A 25-year-old Atteridgeville man has been arrested after allegedly being involved in an argument that ended in a fatal stabbing.
The suspect was arrested on Monday morning, after allegedly stabbing a man to death during a fight at Schubert Park hostels, said Atteridgeville police spokesperson Mapula Rikhotso.
“The two were seen to have been arguing and got physical before the victim was stabbed this morning,” she said.
The suspect was apprehended by the task team led by Sergeant Lebohang Monareng of the detective branch in Atteridgeville SAPS, Rikhotso said.
“It is reported that the suspect was arrested at Attlyn mall while trying to flee Atteridgeville. Reports suggest that the suspect was soliciting money from his cousin with the intention to go back home to the Eastern Cape.”
The continued teamwork with the community was key in ensuring the quick and swift arrest was affected, she said.
Atteridgeville station commander Brigadier Abraham Mbangwa Nkhwashu applauded the speed at which the investigation was conducted leading to an immediate arrest of the suspect.
