A unique project has been started in an attempt to assist the less fortunate in the Elandspoort area.

They will be helped through a limousine ride, explained resident Elaine Koen.

“How the project works is we will have tickets for sale for a chance to win a limousine ride to Hartbeespoort in the North West,” she said.

She said the ride would start in Danville.

“Everyone loves the feeling of riding in a limousine, so who would not love to catch a ride all the way to Hartbeespoort,” she said.

Koen said the money raised through ticket sales would go towards the less fortunate.

“We want to hold a soup day for the needy so that we can push back into the community,” she said.

“We hope to be able to hold this soup day before winter ends. I think a bowl of soup will help warm people up in the cold,” she said.

“We have not chosen an area where we will have this soup day because there are already many soup kitchens in Danville,” she said.

She said that tickets for the limousine ride have been available since 18 May and would remain for sale until 5 July, at R30 each.

“If you think about it, it is really not so much for the ride and you will know that the money went towards something to help those in need,” she said.

Koen said eight winners will be chosen for the limousine ride on 6 July, and the ride itself would take place on 13 July.

“Winners are also welcome to nominate someone else to take their place,” she said.

Koen said the project was made possible thanks to sponsors.

“The limousine ride was sponsored by another resident,” she said.

Koen thanked everyone who made the project possible.

She urged locals to buy tickets for the ride.
