Learners at Laerskool Queenswood had fun while raising funds for a good cause during their annual kaskar event on Saturday.
“One of the aims for the event was to raise funds for 30 learners from the Louis Botha Children Home,” said school principal Rico Ludick.
All the gate-takings go to the fundraiser.
“We raise funds for them every year towards their school fees,” said Ludick.
“This year the turnout was quite good, so we are happy.”
Ludick said this year’s event was the biggest with many activities such as a colour run, tug of war, slides, dog show, tractor rides, bouncy castles and lots of games to choose from.
The school had been hosting similar events for over 20 years, Ludick said.
Learner Corné Smith said he enjoyed himself “a lot” and liked the fact that there was a lot of food stalls.
“This was my first kaskar and I had fun; I enjoyed the music mostly and the atmosphere, the food was amazing too,” said another learner Anika Schnitter.
Afrikaans musician Izaak Davel treated people at the event to his hit songs.
It was a fun-filled day for both learners and parents and they were spoilt for choice with 27 food stalls to choose from.
