BRAAI VLEIS – There is nothing better than lighting the wood and braai … great South African way to sosialise with good friends and family.
South Africans use braai for every type of occasion and if we do not have an occasion then we invent one to braai!
We South Africans love braai so much that we have special day per year for braai.
Little bit South African Humor …
How does the world know South Africa ?
Early life: Schuster was drawn to the filmmaking process at an early age. As child he and his brother Ottoh L would play practical jokes on his family and film these.
Schuster went to Hoërskool Jim Fouché in Bloemfontein, then studied for a BA degree at the University of the Orange Free State, where he played rugby for the first team. He returned to Jim Fouché as a teacher for two years.
Schuster began working for the South African Broadcasting Corporation. During his time at the SABC, he created the Afrikaans radio series Vrypostige Mikrofoon with Fanus Rautenbach – which involved disguising his voice and playing phone pranks on unsuspecting victims.
Music: In 1982, he was approached by Decibel Records to compile a series of sports songs and his first record, Leon Schuster, sold 10,000 units. His second album, Broekskeur, sold in excess of 40,000 units and this was followed by Briekdans and Leon Schuster – 20 Treffers, which sold more than 270,000 copies.
His hit CD Hier Kom Die Bokke garnered an FNB Sama Music Award for Biggest Selling CD of 1995. His following CD, Gatvol in Paradise, sold in more than 125,000 units and gave rise to the unofficial Gauteng anthem, “Gautengeling”.
Film: Schuster’s first feature, You Must Be Joking!, produced in collaboration with Johan Scholtz and Elmo de Witt, became popular with South African audiences and it gave rise to the sequel You Must be Joking! Too.
These films were candid camera sketches and Schuster made many more of these films as well as slap-stick films, including Mr Bones, his most successful film, which earned more than R33 million at the South African box office. On 16 September 2011 it was reported that Schuster’s next movie would be partly financed by the Walt Disney Company, which would also handle distribution and marketing.
Public image: Schuster is well-respected and admired in South Africa. Some even dub him as the best comedian South Africa has produced. He was rated at number #43 in SABC’s greatest South Africans poll for his comedic work and creating a new South Africa.

Over to Our Sports History with a Legendary Hero!
Abraham Benjamin “AB” de Villiers (born 17 February 1984) is a South African cricketer who captains the South African One Day International (ODI) team. He holds many batting records, such as the fastest 50, 100 and 150 in ODI cricket, the fastest Test century by a South African and the fastest T20I 50 by a South African.
He is recognized as the best batsmen in the world at present and one of the greatest of all time. He made his international debut in a Test match against England in 2004 and first played an ODI in early 2005. His debut in Twenty20 International cricket came in 2006. As of 2016, he has passed 8,000 runs in both Test and ODI cricket and has a batting average of over fifty in both forms of the game. He began his career as a wicketkeeper-batsman, but later played most often purely as a batsman. He has batted at various positions up and down the order.
AB de Villiers – The Autobiography
This is AB’s story, in his own words. The story of the youngest of three talented, sports-mad brothers growing up in Warmbaths, of a boy who excelled at tennis, rugby and cricket, of a youngster who made his international debut at the age of twenty and was then selected in every single test played by South Africa for the next eleven seasons, of a batsman who has started to redefine the art, being ranked among the world’s very best.
Through all the pyrotechnics and consistency, AB has remained a true sportsman – quick to deflect praise, swift to praise opponents, eager to work hard, to embrace the team’s next challenge and to relish what he still regards as the huge privilege of representing his country.
This is the story of a modern sporting phenomenon.
Here are just a few thing about South Africa. As you work your way through our country’s little towns and interesting places you will meet exciting new people and the longer you stay the better you get to know them the more you will love them.
Make your life story a best seller !
